This beautiful splendid building was built by the 4th  Nawab of Awadh- Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula and the construction work was taken up in the year 1784. Construction of the Imambara was completed in 1791. It was designed by the Architect Hafiz Kifayatullah, a prominent Architect of that time through a competative process.

The excellent architecture of the complex represents Lucknavi Art and Culture. It is one of the last major projects not incorporating any European elements or the use of iron. The main Imambara consists of a large central hall containing the tomb of Asaf-ud-Daula. At 50 by 16 meters and over a height of 15 meters, it has no beams supporting the ceiling and is one of the largest such arched constructions in the world..The amazing hollow walls of the central hall  not only keeps it cool during summer  but also help to lighten the load of the structure.

Bhulbhulayah : The amazing upper part of the Imambara is known as Bhulbhulayah. There are eight surrounding chambers built to different roof heights, permitting the space above these to be reconstructed as a three-dimensional labyrinth with passages interconnecting with each other through 489 identical doorways. Known as a popular attraction, it is possibly the only existing maze in India and came about unintenionally to support the weight of the building which is constructed on marshy land. Asaf-ud-Daula also erected the 18 meter (59 foot) high Rumi Darwaza, just outside. This portal, embellished with lavish decorations, was the Imambara's west facing entrance.

The Golghar, Patna

The Golghar (Round House) located at Patna, Bihar, India is a wonderful Monument and Historical Place.
The Gol Ghar

Description : The Golghar or Gol Ghar ("Round House") is a wonderful granary located at west of Gandhi Maidan, Patna (The Capital of Bihar State), India. It was built in 1786 by Captain John Garstin for the purpose of storing grains for the British Army. The building has a foundation of 125 m, and a height of 29 m. and pillar-less with a wall of thickness of 3.6 m at the base. One can climb atop the Golghar through the 145 steps of its spiral stairway around the monument.

The spiral staircase was designed so as to facilitate the passage of the coolies, who had to carry grain-bags up one flight, deliver their load through a hole at the top, and descend the other stairs. The top of the Golghar presents a wonderful panoramic view of the city and the Ganges flowing nearby. At the time of its construction, it was the tallest building in Patna.

One interesting fact about the Golghar is that never it been filled to its maximum capacity and there are no plans in future too. The reason for this is that due to oversight while construction of the Golghar, the doors were designed to open inside. Thus, if it is filled to its maximum capacity, then the doors will not open.

Several walls were being built as early as the 7th century BC. Later joined together and made bigger, stronger, and unified. It is famous that the wall was built between 220–206 BC by the first Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang.

Little of that wall was remained. The majority of the existing wall was reconstructed during the Ming Dynasty. An archaeological survey found that the entire wall with all of its branches measure out to be 21,196 km.

The purpose of the Great Wall also included border controls, allowing the imposition of duties on goods transported along the Silk Road, regulation of trade and the control of immigration and emigration. Furthermore, the defensive characteristics of the Great Wall were enhanced by the construction of Signal Towers which were built upon hill tops, Troop Barracks, Garrison Stations, signaling capabilities through the means of smoke or fire. The path of the Great Wall also served as a Transportation Corridor.

It is said that Great wall is visible from the moon as well as it is also visible from low earth orbit. But there is no any authentic or scientific proof  still available.
